Since 2021, The Plough has been owned by the community, and now its future is in your hands. Could you be the one to help shape that future?
It’s time for elections again! The Community Benefit Society is looking to fill six vacancies on its Management Committee, and applications are open now until Monday, 23rd September.
If you’re passionate about The Plough and our community, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved. As a committee member, you’ll help steer The Plough’s future, ensuring it remains at the heart of the community. Whether it’s offering support to the staff or planning new initiatives, your contributions will keep The Plough thriving for future generations.
How to Apply
If you’re a member of the society, you can apply by filling out an application form and sending it to election@lcpl.org.uk by midnight on 23rd September. This is your chance to help shape how the pub is run and play a role in ensuring its success.
What Does the Committee Do?
The committee supports and improves The Plough, with members focusing on areas where their skills or interests are most valuable. Some key roles include:
Chair and Vice Chair
Treasurer
Community & Members’ Representative
Secretary
HR, Operations, Compliance, Marketing, and Facilities
Even if these specific roles aren’t your area of expertise, you can still offer valuable general support and help keep The Plough running smoothly.

Applications open: Now until 23rd September
Voting period: All society members will receive an email to vote online from 10th-17th October
Results: Announced at the Annual Members’ Meeting on 18th October, followed by a welcome meeting for the new committee on 21st October.

We’re hosting an informal meet-up with free drinks and nibbles on Saturday, 14th September. Come along to chat with current committee members and learn more about how you can contribute. For more details, email members.election@lcpl.org.uk.
Become a Member
If you’re not already a member, purchasing shares (starting at £50) allows you to stand for election and vote. It’s one vote per shareholder, not per share, and every vote counts in keeping The Plough at the heart of our community.
If joining the committee isn’t your style, there are still plenty of ways to get involved! Whether it’s volunteering or simply supporting the pub in other informal ways, we would love your contribution. Just ask at the pub or email us to explore these options further.
